Banks
To multiply the capitals and spread the business transaction in a perfect manner, Banks have always been playing an important role. Thinking over the importance of bank, Kalna town co-operative bank was founded in the year 1917 with the initiatives of Bidubhushan Chgatterjee, Shishir Chatterjee and Sourastr Dutta. Kalna- Katwas central co-operative bank whose present identity is as Bardhaman central bank was contemporary. Besides these, there took place, a few years before 1947, two banks, one Imperial Bank and the other Bengal bank at Pathuriamohal, Lakshmiganj. Later Imperial bank, after being nationalised was named State Bank of India. Now it has been continuing its business at Kumardip Bhaban there stars A.D.B one of the State Bank branches at the place near kalna Bus stand. To keep the balance in investment of capital which has always an increasing tendency a branch of United Bank of India has started spreading business at the first floor of Kalna Rabindra Sadan in the year 1969.
